5th-Nov-2008 10:40 am - Can we now move on.....
election
I hope now that this country will move past race as an issue. No person in this country best never use the color of their skin as an excuse to not succeed. One thing Obama has proven that race isn't a factor to how successful a person can be. I don't ever want to hear people (black or white, or brown or yellow or....) ever put the 'race card' out.

I am not racist. I have many friends of many ethniticty. I just know that I'm tired of race being the reason someone isn't able to get what they want. You have to work (and sometimes work HARD) to get what you want. You want to succeed, you can't expect others to just hand things over to you on a silver platter.

If I have pissed you off, then that's your problem and not mine. I have seen the double standard just one too many times to worry about how others feel. It's just that most of the news I've been hearing this morning is more about Obama being a black man instead of the person who the country thinks is better suited to run this country.  I don't really care what the color of Obama's skin is. I just want to know that he's going to work hard for the benefit of this country as a whole.

Watching You
Ron Paul in 2012!!!

I'm starting now, so we can get REAL change in four years!

And like I said, I didn't vote for either major candidate. The reason is, because, I truly think neither one had the real American in their best interest - I'm going to get taxed to the point I can't take any real vacations, while those who make less than me can take trips to Europe - case in point - an IAM member who did just that while they were on strike. I struggle to give my children a better life, but because I went to college and make good money, I'm going to be punished and they will be punished. They won't be able to afford to go to college because I make too much for financial aid, yet, I can't make enough to save for them now.

If the other guy won, then I would be considering moving so my boys wouldn't have the fear of being drafted to fight wars for money (ie oil). I would have the fear that a women's right to choose would be taken away, as well as having other morals legislated, and more of our freedoms taken away like the Patriot Act did.

I'm sorry if I'm offending anyone, but these things have been bothering me for quite some time and to see this country continue to go for the 'status quo' makes me sad. To make real change, we can't go with the status quo. And if we continue to support the two primary parties, that's all we are doing.

Ok, I really tried to find an unbias location for this interview and transcript. I haven't read the comments that were posted to this. But this one comment from the interview is scary:  "But, the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society. And, to that extent, as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution, at least as it has been interpreted."

http://hotair.com/archives/2008/10/27/smells-like-socialist-spirit/

Of course, Obama's camp has posted "Make no mistake, this has nothing to do with Obama’s economic plan
or his plan to give the middle class a tax cut. It’s just another distraction..."

I thought "redistribution of wealth" was nothing but economics!!!!!

(ETA: Where's Droops when you want his thoughts??? Hope he's enjoying his trip.)

from the Ron Paul website (http://www.ronpaul2008.com/)

You say you want a revolution? (1/30/08)

Every movement in history has faced some time of testing, some experience that either forges it into something strong and unified, or forces it to fade away into the history books as another failed experiment.

Dr. Paul has written to you that we are heading straight for Super Tuesday. Our opponents are free to beat up on each other and wear themselves down while we gather our supporters and prepare to storm the convention with delegates.

Last night, over 60,000 people stood up and asked for an end to the runaway violation of our liberties. But contrary to the impression you may be getting from the mainstream media, no national delegates have yet been won in Florida. Those delegates will only be awarded between February 6 and April 30 at delegate selection caucuses, and many of those delegates will be supporters of Dr. Paul.

Ron Paul is the only candidate not to give up on any state in the Republican race, and just as we competed strongly in overlooked states like Nevada and Louisiana, so too will we compete in Maine, Minnesota, and other states that the so-called "top-tier" candidates are content to ignore.

Now, as the focus shifts to Super Tuesday, Rudy's campaign is crushed, Huckabee is losing momentum by the day, and McCain and Romney are fighting over who is the most liberal.

We've been here before. In 1776, despite a courageous effort at holding onto the city, George Washington ceded New York and quickly retreated to New Jersey.

1777 brought the British recapture of Fort Ticonderoga, as well as American defeats at Brandywine and Germantown.

And then, during the winter of 1777-1778, Washington and his army faced perhaps their most humiliating moment, forced to endure a harsh Pennsylvania winter with limited supplies at Valley Forge.

The American revolutionaries dealt with their defeats, focused on their goals, and emerged from Valley Forge as a force that would defeat the most powerful nation on earth.

Our momentum is building. Each one of us, from Dr. Paul himself down to the grassroots supporter who donates the last $5 he or she can give, is focused on the goal.

Early in the struggle for American independence, George Washington wrote: "Perseverance and spirit have done wonders in all ages." Even then, Washington realized that a fierce struggle for self-government can only be won with a spirit of determination equal to the challenge.

Today, in the midst of our new revolution, let's consider Washington's words once again. The task before us is enormous. The foes of liberty are deeply entrenched, and they will not relinquish their power without a struggle.

But fighting in our favor is the unconquerable human spirit, the innate desire to be free. We must embrace this inner strength, dig in our heels, and persevere, just as Washington and his rag-tag colonials, the first American grassroots patriots, did before us. And if we must pass through a Valley Forge or two along the way to victory, let those times of testing temper the steel of our determination.

from USAToday blogs.....

Arlo Guthrie endorses Ron Paul

Arlo Guthrie -- of Alice's Restaurant fame and son of folk legend Woody Guthrie -- has endorsed Republican Rep. Ron Paul's bid for the White House.

"I love this guy," Guthrie says in a statement released by the Paul campaign. "Dr. Paul is the only candidate I know of who would have signed the Constitution of the United States had he been there. I'm with him, because he seems to be the only candidate who actually believes it has as much relevance today as it did a couple of hundred years ago. I look forward to the day when we can work out the differences we have with the same revolutionary vision and enthusiasm that is our American legacy."

And now that the tune for Alice's Restaurant is in your head, go here if you can't remember the lyrics.

The Republican Race is getting interesting. The sad think is that mainstream media isn't covering all the stories. They ignore the one candidate I support and feels he is the best candidate for the country at this time. Of course I'm talking about Dr. Ron Paul.

Please check out his platform: http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/

If you have the opportunity to vote in a Republican primary or caucus, please consider Ron Paul.

Thank you for listening.

ETA:  Check out this quote: "The only one behaving like a real Republican is Ron Paul, who actually wants to cut spending and get government out of our lives.  He won't win the nomination because too many Republican are into handouts and restribution, just like Democrats." http://www.calthomas.com/index.php?news=2158

Today is the first of many Caucuses and Primaries for the election of our next President. I know that many of you may have already made your minds up to who you plan to vote for. I'm calling out to those undecided voters. YOU are the most important vote. You tend to look at the issues and how each candidate stands on them and haven't decided which of those candidates most closely matches your stand on the issues.

If you haven't decided, I encourage you to look at Dr. Ron Paul. (http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/)  Now, I consider myself still undecided, but I am currently leaning towards Dr. Paul. I guess I'm a little lucky in that the state of Washington isn't having it's caucus and primary until mid-February (they do both here).

I just did something geeky. I called a local talk radio and gave a trivia question which stumped the hosts. I asked them what is the longest running scifi show in north america.

One didn't know and the other guessed Star Trek TNG.

I started watching Stargate SG-1 from the very beginning. I saw the RDA was staring in this new show based on a movie I enjoyed. Because I enjoyed MacGyver, I had to check it out. Well, RDA may have got me started in watching the show, but MS kept me around. Then it was the stories. I even stuck around when MS left during Season 6 because I enjoyed the stories so much. Then came the Season 7 finale.....

I couldn't believe the ending. Jack frozen, a new civilian leader of the SGC....... I couldn't stand it. I had to find someone to talk to about it, since hubs didn't watch the show. I sat down at my computer and started searching the web. I came across a site called Gateworld, and my life has never been the same. I found out there was this HUGE following for the show. There were people known as shippers and slashers; there was thunking and whumping. And then there were conventions where you could meet the stars and fans. The next thing I knew, I was making friends, not only all over the US, but all over the world.

Thank you Stargate SG-1! If it wasn't for you, I never would have so many new friends.

You will be missed SG-1. The trip was a ride I'll never forget!!!

May everyone, cast and crew, who worked on this wonderful show be blessed in their future endeavors.

Just read a story about a new theory on how the Great Pyramid was built. Very interesting. The theory was studied using 3-D modeling. They now need to go study the pyramid to see if the theory can be proven.

You can read the article here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17873984/?GT1=9145

The main website on the theory is here: http://khufu.3ds.com/introduction/

the 3-D model of the theory can be seen here: http://khufu.3ds.com/introduction/revealed/
